About Me

My name is Vanesa, and I currently study software engineering.
Since I was young, I've always been curious about how things worked, and my hunger for information was insatiable. This has led to my scattered knowledge from all sorts of areas, from art, to science, and programming and tech. The name Commonplace Book for this blog reflects the eclectic nature of the posts here.
I have a Bachelor's of Science degree in Environmental Science and Forensic Science. The attention to detail, meticulous note-taking, and synthesizing information were all things that drew me to crime scene investigation. During my study, I came across the field of bioinformatics. While I was always interested in programming as a hobby, I decided I wanted to pursue it as a career.
Aside from my academic pursuits, my hobbies include art, playing piano, writing both fiction and non-fiction, reading books, and puzzle games.
